2019 Vehicle Arson Training Program

On June 6th the NICB, the New York Anti-Car Theft & Fraud Association (NYACT), the Westchester County District Attorney Office and New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control (OFPC) presented a one-day Vehicle Arson Awareness Program for first responders and members of the insurance industry in Valhalla, New York.

Vehicle Arson Training Program

This successful program has been held twice a year for the past 13 years where over 2,000 students have been trained in the investigation of vehicle arsons. This was a program that the NICB spearheaded with the NY State Police and NYS OFPC in 2010 and has been presented in multiple locations throughout the state each year. As a result of the success and number of students that have attended, the NYS OFPC has added the program to their certification curriculum.

Vehicle Arson Training Program - live vehicle burns

It consists of classroom training and live vehicle burns simulating accidental and caused fires. The program’s success has been aided by our members donating vehicles for use in this valuable training program.
