Heavy equipment theft leads to recovery and arrests

Jefferson County — The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has made three arrests and recovered thousands of dollars’ worth of heavy equipment stolen in September.

The Jefferson County Criminal Investigation Division along with the Southeast Texas Auto Theft Task Force investigated two significant thefts this month, aided by the Jefferson County Patrol and Jefferson County Warrant Division.

The first case was reported September 1 on Tram Road. It led to the recovery of about $50,000 in stolen items, including a mini excavator, a tractor, a trailer, a four-wheeler and a dirt bike.
