Austin ISD chief financial officer arrested on insurance fraud charges

The chief financial officer of the Austin school district has been placed on paid leave in connection with an arrest related to charges of insurance fraud for activities not related to the district, according to district and law enforcement officials.
Eduardo Ramos, 51, was arrested at 9:03 a.m. Wednesday by the Austin school district's Police Department on a warrant from the Round Rock Police Department in connection with felony charges of insurance fraud, officials with the Round Rock police and the Travis County sheriff's office confirmed Monday.
The arrest doesn't involve any allegations of criminal activity related to Ramos' work at the district or with any district staff members or students, a district official told the American-Statesman.
