Alleged car thieves may be linked to deadly Northeast Side home shooting

Three people are in custody and one person remains at large in what police are calling a Bexar County auto-theft crime ring. Officials believe the alleged thieves broke into cars, stole them and then used them to capture other vehicles.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar provided details on the multi-warrant execution Thursday morning, October 10. After several months of coordination among different agencies, authorities completed a "highly successful operation," capturing three out of four persons of interest.

In an arrest that officials believe could be "a part of something bigger," the two men and one woman arrested could also be connected to the May shooting in a northeast side neighborhood that left a 4-year-old girl dead, according to a KENS 5 report. At this time, there has not been an official arrest in connection to the deadly shooting, in which two masked gunmen were seen firing several rounds into the home.
