Former Texas Insurance Broker Charged in Alleged Scam

A former Friendswood, Texas insurance agent turned himself into authorities last week over charges that he fraudulently brokered insurance policies, the Friendswood Police Department announced.

Edgar Peralta of Edgar Peralta with Peralta Insurance Brokerage LLC, is charged with theft, a state jail felony, through the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office.

Friendswood PD received a report on March 3, 2025, in regard to possible theft/fraud involving an insurance scam. The victim advised that they had been using an insurance broker, Peralta, for several years to purchase their homeowner, auto, and flood insurance.
